A unique hand made Thumbpot, the Plant Merchant ushers in new life and heaves a heavy pack (holding your new plant) on their back! The process of making each sculpture ensures each character is unique. I use my thumb as the base for building and that indentation becomes the character’s plant bearing backpack. 
 
Each thumbpot character is bisque fired, hand stained and fired again. Sculptures are tinted with porous masons stains which can add a chalky roughness and increase variable porosity and flow rate even more. Providing yet another richly textured microbe fostering surface.
